Goals From Messi And Alvarez Seal 2 0 Victory

Argentina defeats Canada, advances to Copa América final

Goals from Messi and Álvarez seal 2-0 victory

Reigning Copa América champions Argentina booked their place in the final of the 2024 tournament with a 2-0 victory over Canada on Wednesday night. Lionel Messi and Julián Álvarez scored the goals for the Argentines, who will now face Brazil in Sunday's final.

Argentina started the game brightly and took the lead after just 10 minutes. Messi picked up the ball in midfield and drove forward before playing a perfectly weighted pass into the path of Álvarez. The Manchester City striker took one touch to control the ball and then fired a low shot past Milan Borjan in the Canadian goal.

Canada grew into the game as the half wore on and had a few chances to equalize. However, they were unable to find a way past Emiliano Martínez in the Argentine goal.

Argentina doubled their lead early in the second half. Messi was again involved, this time providing the assist for Álvarez. The Barcelona superstar skipped past a couple of Canadian defenders before crossing for Álvarez, who had a simple tap-in from close range.

Canada pushed for a goal in the closing stages but were unable to break down the Argentine defense. The victory means that Argentina will now face Brazil in Sunday's final. Brazil defeated Colombia 3-0 in the other semi-final.
